It sounded to me like these guys were giving Thomas the royal runaround. I suspected the poor guy was going to end up running into these guys really hard sometime soon. It'd make sense from a video game standpoint. Hell, even from a normal standpoint it's obvious things were going to move soon.
I accepted the shortcake -- admittedly, a little greedily, but it sure looked good -- and followed Thomas. "So where're we headed next?" I asked.
