Thomas leaned against the wall to catch her breath for the fifth time today. She had swapped out the swath of canvas for bandages from the kit, it eased up a little on the tightness and the pinching.

Nnh, maybe I still got it on too tight, She thought as she wiggled, trying to adjust it without lifting up her shirt. Once she did as much as she could, Thomas closed her eyes - just absorbing the coolness of the cellar walls (least she assumes they would be called Cellars in a place like this). It felt pretty much...

The place wasn't so bad, sure it's run down, maybe it's neck-deep in unfiled paperwork and the staff is ridiculously small. But it's got charm - a beautiful view at shore, the great people... the -

uneven stairs that she really should be paying attention to.

With a sudden start as her foot landed on air, Thomas's arms flailed in a very good imitation of a windmill and a spastic bird, though sadly it completely does nothing to keep her from losing her unused-to new sense of balance. She cried out in alarm as she tumbled down the remain steps and crashed into a free-standing torch.

She was vaguely aware of a POP! and a THUD! as the world started to pirouette around her and went blurry. Oh... how great, Thomas thought before she went out like a light.

"Master Thomas! Ma-Master Thomas!" A loud, girlish voice pierced the darkness as she's vaguely aware of a tight, painful grip on her shoulders. "Are you okay?! What happened?!"

"Uh...? Cecile?" Her eyelids twitched as she slowly regained consciousness. Which is at the point where her shoulder and head started to throb in protest at her latest escapades of not paying attention. Thomas felt as though someone was smashing her head in with an anvil every three seconds, which hastened her return to reality. "I...?" Her amber eyes flew open.

"Oh... Thank Goddess you're okay! What happened? Was it a bandit?! A bear?! Tell me and I'll get them!" The guard questioned worriedly as she moves to help the taller girl up, her expression darkened at the idea of anyone harming her charge.

"Uh... I er - just tripped, it's noth -" Thomas cut himself off with a squeak as Cecile's grip slipped as she carried most of Thomas' weight. Oh-!

Squish.

"Eh...?! Th-thomas, what was... that?" The girl stammered.

Think of something, think of something! The castle lord (or is it lady?) panicked.

"...Oh my-! You're - you're a-mmmf!" The blond was hastily cut off by Thomas' hand, her blue eyes widened even further at Thomas' unusually quick response.

"Ssssh... please," The taller girl winced as her head continued to repeatedly telegraphed the fact it was in pain. "I'll explain. Just..." She lets go, and bows, her hands clasped over her head. "Uh... Pleasedon'ttellanyone."

"Wow... that really must've been one idiotic Runesage! I never heard of such a thing!" Cecile exclaimed after putting away the medicine kit. "How long ago did it happen? I mean, I did kind of noticed your voice went funny... but you said you had a cold."

I didn't know she had long hair... Thomas thought distractedly as she laid on the bed. "Uh... I know, It er - startled me." She glanced to the side, feeling a twinge of guilt at out and out lying to her. But who would believe in the Nexus? "Er..." She rubbed the back of her head, and swallowed. "I was em-embarrassed."

"I mean there's nothing wrong with being a girl, Master Thomas... ina?" She added the last as she tilted her head - a gesture she unknowingly picked up from the new Castle Master and giggled as Thomas groaned in protest. "But... it's kind of weird - I mean, you being not you."

"Heh... I'm still me, just - Uh well, I was planning on finding a more experienced Runesage to see if this can be undone, when uh... I get a free moment." She touched her forehead, relieved that the painful throbbing is starting to dissipate.

There was a clunk as Cecile tapped the butt of her spear against the ground. "Ma-master Thomas!! I'm glad you're... enjoying, er wanting to take care of the castle, but you should also look out for yourself as well!" Her lips curled into a concerned pout. "Ah... You can go ahead and go, I'll tell Sebastian you got an errand to run!" The blond grinned. "Oh! I should be back on patrol! Can't be a proper Garrison Commander if I dilly-dally too long! Take care of yourself!" With that, she slung her helmet back on and ran out. "I won't tell anyone, I promised!"

"Cecile - Wait...!" Thomas held a hand out, just a little too late, and sighed. It wasn't one of annoyance, or sadness... but of relief, even happiness. The young man was glad there's someone he can absolutely trust. "...Thank you."
